Toilet Installation Guide

by EPLOINC 30 May 2024

1. Rough-in & Toilet Positioning

Rough-in Distance (Critical)

  • Standard rough-in: 12 inches (305 mm) from finished wall to flange center
  • Always verify before installation

⚠ Incorrect rough-in size may prevent proper installation

Side Clearance

  • Minimum: 15 inches (38 cm) from centerline to wall/obstacle

Front Clearance

  • Recommended: ≥ 30 inches (76 cm)

⚠ Provides better comfort and meets modern bathroom design standards

Floor & Leveling

  • Floor must be solid, level, and finished
  • Ensure toilet is level (front-back & side-side)
  • Prevents:
    • Wobbling
    • Seal failure
    • Noise

2. Drainage Requirements (IMPORTANT)

Direct Connection Required

EPLO smart toilets are designed for direct connection to a standard floor flange.

❌ Do NOT install:

  • Additional external P-trap
  • S-trap adapters
  • Flexible or corrugated drain hoses
  • Offset drain extensions (unless absolutely necessary)

✅ Correct Installation:

Toilet → Floor Flange → Building Drain System

⚠️ Important Note

  • The building’s plumbing system already includes internal trap protection
  • No additional trap is required or allowed

⚠  Adding extra bends or traps may cause:

  • Weak flushing
  • Drain blockage
  • Water backup

Flange Installation

  • Flange must be:
    • Flush with finished floor or slightly above
    • Firmly secured
  • Use:
    • Wax ring or high-quality rubber seal

3. Water Supply (Angle Valve Position)

Recommended Position

  • Side of toilet (left or right)
  • Do NOT place behind the toilet

Height

  • Approx. 6 inches (15 cm) above floor

Distance from Centerline

  • Ideal: 6–10 inches (15–25 cm)

Installation Notes

  • Ensure easy access for maintenance
  • Use Teflon tape to prevent leaks
  • Test for leakage before final installation

Water Pressure Recommendation

EPLO smart toilets are designed for a wide range of water pressure conditions:

  • Models with built-in tank & booster pump perform well even in low water pressure environments

4. Electrical Requirements

Outlet Type

  • Must use GFCI outlet (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter)

Recommended Position

  • Same side as angle valve
  • Avoid crossing cables behind toilet

Height

  • Approx. 12 inches (30 cm) above floor

Distance from Toilet

  • Ideal: 12–24 inches (30–60 cm)

Power Supply Recommendation

  • Use a dedicated 120V circuit
  • Avoid sharing with high-power appliances

Safety Notes

  • Keep power cord away from water
  • Do not use extension cords

5. Installation Best Practices

Sealing & Fixing

  • Do not overtighten bolts (prevents ceramic cracking)
  • Ensure stable base contact

Accessibility

  • Keep:
    • Water valve
    • Power outlet
    • Rear service area
      easily accessible

Ventilation

  • Ensure bathroom has proper airflow
  • Prevent moisture damage to electronic components

6. Final Testing (MANDATORY)

After installation:

Water Test

  • Check all connections for leaks
  • Open valve fully

Flush Test

  • Flush multiple times
  • Confirm:
    • Strong flushing
    • No backflow

Function Test

  • Test all smart features:
    • Bidet wash
    • Seat heating
    • Dryer
    • Auto flush

7. Important Installation Reminders

✔ Confirm rough-in before purchase
✔ Do not modify drain structure
✔ Do not add extra traps or pipes
✔ Follow electrical safety requirements
✔ Always test before final use
