Smart Toilet With Bidet: How the Wash Function Works

by EPLOINC

A smart toilet with bidet functions replaces the wipe with a targeted wash. A nozzle extends under the seat, sprays warm water where toilet paper used to do the work, and a warm air dryer finishes the job. There are two wash modes, rear wash and front wash, and both draw fresh water heated as it flows.

Here is what the bidet function actually does, what you can adjust, and how to use it the first time.

What a Smart Toilet With Bidet Actually Is

The bidet function is the part that washes you with water instead of paper. A smart toilet with bidet functions is built as one fixture: the toilet, the heater, the nozzle, and the controls share one ceramic body.

That is the practical difference from a bidet seat, which bolts washing onto a bowl you already own. The built-in version is designed around the wash from the start: warm water on demand, a heated seat, and flushing you never touch.

The Two Wash Modes on a Smart Toilet With Bidet

Rear wash, sometimes labeled posterior wash, is the everyday mode. It aims a focused stream of warm water behind you, which makes it the setting you reach for after a bowel movement. Some spec sheets call it posterior wash. Same function, different wording.

Front wash, often labeled feminine wash, the stream is gentler, because the job is different: freshening the front. It is designed around female hygiene, and it is the mode many women use for daily freshening and on period days. Anyone can use it; some people simply prefer the softer spray.

Mode What it cleans How it sprays When you use it
Rear wash Behind you Firmer, focused stream After a bowel movement, the everyday mode
Front wash Further forward Softer, wider spray Front freshening, including period days

One nozzle, two positions, two spray patterns. Neither mode replaces the other.

What You Can Adjust

Most models let you tune three things while the wash runs.

Water pressure. Start low. A stronger spray does not clean better; it usually just means splashback.

Nozzle position. The default suits most people, and a small nudge forward or back matters more than more pressure.

Water temperature. Instant heating keeps the stream warm for as long as the wash runs.

First-timers usually settle on one pressure and one nozzle position within a week and never touch the rest.

Using It the First Time

  1. Sit fully on the seat. The wash waits for the seat sensor.

  2. Choose rear wash or front wash on the remote or side knob.

  3. Keep the water pressure low for the first few uses, then adjust it to your comfort pressure.

  4. If your model has a nozzle position control, adjust it in small steps.

When you are done, press stop and run the warm air dryer. Then stand up: the flush fires when you leave the seat, so the last step is no step at all.

Where the Wash Water Comes From

The wash on a smart toilet with bidet functions draws from the same supply line that fills the tank, not from the bowl and not from a reservoir under the seat. The water is fresh, and it is heated as it flows, so the warm spray does not fade halfway through a wash.

That matters more than it sounds. Older designs kept a small tank of warm water under the seat, and when the tank emptied, the spray went cold mid-use. Instant heating ended that.

On the U8 series in the EPLO smart toilet lineup, the water side goes a step further. A dual waterway keeps wash water separate from bowl water, UVC treatment runs on the wash path, and the wash draws 100 percent clean, fresh water.

The plumbing side sits on a certified footing too. Every EPLO model is cUPC listed, which is the North American mark for fixtures connected to drinking water.

FAQs

What is the difference between rear wash and front wash?

Aim and pressure. Rear wash targets behind you with a firmer, focused stream and is the mode you use after a bowel movement. Front wash moves the nozzle forward with a softer, wider spray for the front. Same water supply and same nozzle, two positions and two patterns.

Is a smart toilet with bidet functions hygienic?

The nozzle stays retracted inside the seat until a wash runs. On models with a dual waterway and UVC treatment, the wash path is kept separate from bowl water and treated.

Will the warm water run out mid-wash?

Not on models with instant heating. The water is warmed as it flows in from the supply line, so the spray holds its temperature for as long as the wash runs. Tank-based designs are the ones that go cold halfway through.

Do you still need toilet paper?

Much less. The wash does the cleaning, and a warm air dryer handles drying. Many households keep a roll around to pat dry, but the wipe-and-wipe routine goes away.

Before Your First Wash

Set the pressure to low, pick rear wash, and give it one quiet sitting to get the aim right. That is the whole onboarding.

If you are still choosing a model instead, the smart toilet buying guide walks through what to check, and the U8MAX product page lists the wash and water features on each unit. An EPLO smart toilet earns its keep on the wash side, and the spec sheet tells you exactly which features of it you are getting.
